  • Lay clear plastic drop cloth on top of layers of newspaper, use strips of tape to hold plastic in place.
  • Put paint, and paint brushes next to plastic.
  • Discuss with children what is a “mural”. A very large painting, drawing, mosaic, etc… that can cover an entire wall. Show examples of Marc Chagall’s stained glass work for example. Ask children questions about what do they see, what colors are used, are there any animals or people.
  • Encourage children to talk about what images they would like to incorporate into their mural. (people, buildings, trees, animals, etc…)
  • Have children put on smocks to keep clothing clean, begin to paint on the plastic tarp.
  • Allow paint to dry over night.
  • Hang painting in a window.
