Water Works

Here, children can explore scientific properties of water, practical everyday functions of water, and even some of the most imaginative artistic uses of water they’ve ever seen!

Things to Do:
  • Pump balls up and over a waterfall using an Archimedes Screw.
  • Aim bursts of water onto the Pellet Poppers to make water music.
  • Launch balls across the exhibit by building up water pressure.
  • Explore the Bernoulli Effect by balancing balls on jets of water.
  • Spin submerged gears and pinwheels and float plastic jellyfish at the Bubble Machine.
  • Build a boat and test its speed on a circular water track.
  • Crank a conveyor to fill a tank, and then dump it, sending gallons of water whooshing down pipes.
  • Propel bursts of water at pinwheels to create a moving sculpture.
  • Push buttons to create a rhythmic fountain.
Learning Outcomes:
  • Explore and experiment with the physical properties of water.
  • Use senses to explore and observe.
  • Engage in cooperative interaction.
