Kohl Children's Museum's Summer Discovery Camps will provide 8 weeks of summer camp programming for children ages 3-5. Sessions are available in the morning (Monday-Friday) or in the afternoon (Tuesday-Friday). Various themes and activities allow children to experience something new each week. Our flexible program allows you to choose as many programs as you want, from just one week of exploration, to all 8 weeks of fun and learning!
Each week includes outdoor exploration in Habitat Park (a secured outdoor environment); story-time, as well as numerous opportunities to learn and explore in 16 indoor exhibit areas.
Guidelines
Ages: 3-5 year olds. All campers must be toilet trained.
Attire: Wear clothes that are comfortable for outdoor and indoor hands-on, messy activities. Closed shoes with socks are required (no sandals or open-toed shoes). All clothing should be marked with your child's name. We recommend a labeled backpack for an extra set of clothing and to bring home camp projects. The Museum will provide one apron per child for easy identification as a camper within the Museum. These aprons will be given to the child upon check-in each day, and removed before pick-up to be washed each day.
Parent Information
On the first day of camp, parents will receive a weekly plan. This plan will list the activities for each day and include suggestions for enhanced activities at home. Please note that the order of activities may change due to weather or other events.
Orientation: Kohl Children's Museum will offer a drop-in orientation for parents or caregivers. This is your chance to learn more about camp activities, meet your child's teacher and counselors, review camp procedures and have any questions answered. You will be informed of your orientation date with your confirmation papers.
Snacks: Kohl Children's Museum provides healthy beverages and snacks. If your child has food allergies please specify them on his/her health form (provided at completion of registration process).
Special Needs: Kohl Children's Museum is committed to providing accessible experiences for all children. If your child requires special accommodations, please call 847-832-6871 to discuss your situation prior to registering.
Staffing: Kohl Children's Museum's Summer Discovery Camp is limited to a maximum of 20 campers per session per week and has a staff ratio of 1 counselor for every 5 children. Each class is led by a museum educator.
Registration
Upon completion of registration, parents will be sent confirmation letters with pick-up and drop-off instructions, invitations to the orientation day, health and emergency contact forms to complete. Campers will not be allowed to attend until all completed forms are received by the Museum.
If any week of camp fills up, the Museum will place campers on a wait list. When spots open up due to cancellations, they will be filled in order to registration on the wait list.
Cancellation Policy
You may cancel or change your child's camp registration up to 30 days before the first day of a camp for a $25 administrative handling fee. To cancel, please contact our camp registrar at (847) 832-6917. We are unable to give refunds for cancellations with less than 30 days notice. If your child is unable to attend an entire camp due to medical reasons, you may receive a refund (minus the $25 handling fee) with a doctor's note. We cannot refund individually-missed days. Camps canceled by the Museum for any reason will be provided a full refund.
